How long does an FFL hold a transferred gun before I can pick it up?

Mine just arrived at the dealer. How fast can I get it, and how long will they hold it for me?

Once it arrives you can usually do the 4473 the same day. Pickup speed depends on the NICS check — most are an instant 'proceed,' but it can be delayed up to three business days if you're flagged, and some states add their own waiting period on top. Shops typically hold a transfer 30+ days, but call and ask their policy; a few start charging storage after a while.
