Is .40 S&W still worth it over 9mm?

0

I keep seeing agencies go back to 9mm. Is there any real reason to buy a .40 today, or is it a dead caliber?

.40 isn't dead, but the case for it has shrunk. It does hit a little harder than 9mm, and used .40 guns/ammo can be cheap right now. The downsides: snappier recoil, fewer rounds, and more wear on the gun. Since modern 9mm JHP performs to the same standard, most shooters are better served by 9mm's capacity and controllability. Buy .40 if you find a great deal and shoot it well — otherwise 9mm.
