The ACOG still has a niche: battery-free illumination (fiber optic by day, tritium at night), legendary toughness, and a combat-proven BDC reticle. If you want a rugged, do-or-die optic with no electronics to fail, it is hard to beat. The downsides are a fixed 4x (no 1x for close quarters), a premium price, and short eye relief that demands a consistent cheek weld. Many now prefer a 1-6x LPVO for versatility, but for a battery-free fighting optic, the ACOG still earns its place.
