.300 Blackout
Suppressor-friendly and short-barrel optimized — .300 BLK builds and ammo.
About .300 Blackout
.300 AAC Blackout was designed to deliver .30-caliber performance from a standard AR-15 platform — same magazines and bolt, just a different barrel. Its real magic is at short barrel lengths and when suppressed: subsonic .300 BLK with a can is remarkably quiet, making it a favorite for home-defense SBRs, pistols, and hunting setups where noise and maneuverability matter.
The catch is ammo cost (higher than 5.56) and a critical safety point: never let a .300 BLK round get into a 5.56 chamber — it can chamber and cause a catastrophic failure. Keep your .300 ammo clearly separated. For a compact, suppressor-optimized AR, though, few cartridges do it better.
