Tip: 1 lb of powder = 7,000 grains, so a 5-grain charge yields ~1400 rounds per pound. Always follow published load data.

How it works

Reloading saves money over time, but only if you know your real per-round cost. This calculator adds up the four components — bullet, primer, powder (by charge weight), and brass amortized over how many times you reload it — to give an honest cost per round, then compares it to factory ammo so you can see your savings and how long it takes the gear to pay for itself.

Powder is priced per pound (7,000 grains), so a 40-grain charge from a $40/lb jug costs about 23 cents; the tool does that math for you. Remember that the biggest savings show up on expensive cartridges and high round counts — for cheap bulk 9mm the gap is small. Always follow published load data and never exceed maximum charges.

Educational estimates only — always verify zero and data by shooting, and follow all safety rules.
